Quartz differs from Granite in that although quartz stone is initially mined the process to form the quartz slab is manmade. Resin is added to the quartz minerals under intense pressure and heat pigments are added during this process to give the slab its unique colour and aesthetic.

This process ensures the material is non-porous and highly resistant to both stains and scratches. Quartz has the added benefit of also been 99% antibacterial.
